This week sees the release of the latest track from Bristol dance act and good friends of recreo.co.uk, Dr Meaker. We’re massive fans of the Bristol band and the way they mix classic D’n’B beats with Soul, Breakz & RnB and their latest recording ‘Good Fight’, out now on Circus Records, does not disappoint! ‘Good Fight’ features the vocal talent of Laurent John, who adds a hauntingly beautiful hook on top of a classic rolling bass line. The track is a taste of things to come from an upcoming album the band are set to release on Circus Records. As Clive Meaker recently told Clash when they premiered the track back in August – “We’re really excited about how the record is sounding…It will feature the high energy vocal drum and bass anthems we’re known for, but there will also be plenty of surprises in store, especially the variety of tempos, styles and moods that it will encompass.”
Good Fight’s accompany music video, a gritty tale of urban life, suits the track perfectly, bringing a darker angle to the song’s lyrics. Check it out below:
With their roots firmly in Bristol, Dr Meaker have gone from strength to strength since their breakout performance at Glastonbury 2007 – the band won the Glastonbury Festival Unsigned Competition Dance Music category. From playing at gigs and festivals around the world, we were lucky enough to have Dr Meaker take to the decks for a DJ set at our recent Third Birthday Bash in Bristol! It was a great night, and Dr Meaker aka Clive Meaker’s set went down a treat with the crowd at Attic Bar.
