With the Deus Ex Machina Spring collection now live in store, we take a look at the man behind many of the designs and typography that has captured the imagination of this seasons collection…..Deus Ex Machina and Sketch collaboration
Seasoned Japanese artist and signwriter known as Sketch has created his own distinct visual language through years of applying his paintbrushes to custom motorbikes, shopronts, enamel and wood scattered amongst the fringe of Japanese motorbike culture. His artwork boasts a subliminal charm that stems from a steady hand and untethered mind, creating the perfect partnership with the creativity and distinct designs of Deus Ex Machina.

The Sketch and Deus Ex Machina collaboration called “Todays Perfect” is a collection of unique hand rendered designs across a range of Deus’ staple categories. From long and short sleeve graphic t-shirts to a workwear jacket with felt applique ‘Sketch’ typography.
In addition to the Spring delivery we have a complete re-stock of the popular classic address t-shirts the Deus Venice Address t-shirt, Deus Milano Address tee, Deus Tokyo Address tee and the Deus Skull t-shirt. There is also plenty of new stock in the Deus Bayland Trucker cap, Deus Milano Address Trucker cap and Tokyo Address Trucker cap.
We also introduce for the first time at Recreo, the Deus Ex Machina beach towels ready for the summer. Towels are available in two colour ways with the shield logo emblazoned on the front.
In 2006 Deus ex Machina – “god from the machine” roared into Australia’s cultural consciousness, initially with some neatly customised motorcycles, but has since grown a step bigger than a brand: its now a culture.
The Deus philosophy recalls an era before the various pursuits of fun – motorcycling, surfing, skateboarding, whatever – were marketed into fundamentalist factions. All are welcomed under the Deus roof, where there’s simply respect for the honesty and enjoyment of the machine.
Deus ex Machina has opened flagship stores in Sydney, Bali, Los Angeles and Milan. The cultures that represent each of these countries and cities are plain to see in the delivery of the product.
